A kitchen simply cannot function without the right kitchen sink and faucet.

But deciding on which style to go with can be more stressful than it needs to be.

Our job at Kitchen and Bath Mart is to help clients select a sink and faucet that will work well and withstand years of daily use.

Here’s what you should keep in mind when deciding on which sink and faucet is right for you:

Different Sink Options

Most kitchen sinks are made from stainless steel due to their solid surface and ability to hold up for those homeowners who tend to be hard on sinks.

Although stainless steel sinks can be noisy, most have the option to feature sound-absorption technology, which can make all the difference in your kitchen.

Lower-gauge stainless steel sinks are also better quality.

Enamel-coated cast iron sinks remain popular, but not the best choice for those who are hard on their sinks.

Number of Sinks

Double-bowl sinks are a tradition in most kitchens due to their build for washing dishes.

If you own a dishwasher, we recommend having one oversized and one standard sized bowl.

Having one oversized bowl will still allow you to hand wash large pots, pans and baking sheets.

A Functioning Faucet

When it comes to faucets, we recommend going with the right function and finish.

Faucets with ceramic disk valves and brass base material tend to be the most durable, while brass faucets are not recommended in a heavy-use kitchen.

Kitchen and Bath Mart also recommends single-lever faucets with a spray arm over two handle faucets.

A spray arm will allow you to fill pots with water and rinse the sink when you’re done.
